After getting a site at Heart of the Hills CG, we drove to Hurricane Ridge and walked a paved trail from the parking area. This was not a snowshoe as I am sure you know, but seemed to fit our short walk on paved trails from the parking area. We saw a buck and 2 doe close to the site of the former Visitor Center. A buck was bedded down less than 8 feet from the short wall and didn’t seem bothered by photos being taken! A nearby doe had dug a hole in the shade and was comfortably lying in it and not disturbed by the attention it was getting! Another doe soon joined them. Flowers were past their prime! Harebells were the most prevalent flowers along the trail. One blooming lupine was seen. Many flowers were seen on our drive to Hurricane Ridge and our return to the CG.
