Parking is limited. Come early!! We reached at 7 and there were no spots left. We parked on the side of the road. Trail to Summerland Camp was gradual and bursting with color from wildflowers. Flowers are at their peak right now. Avalanche lilies are blooming and so many of them on the trail. Spent about 20 minutes at camp to eat lunch and then proceeded to Panhandle Gap. The scenery changes dramatically. You will see boulders that are blue-green in color. Waterfalls from glacier melt from the mountains. We crossed the two lakes that are turquoise is color. So gorgeous! After that there is snow up to the gap. We didn’t have micro spikes and decided not to proceed. Some from my group who felt confident, went up without the spikes and said it wasn’t too bad. Overall, great hike and a must do during summer!
