Parking lot is busy – get there early for a spot.
We found the stats to be a bit off for this trip so here is what we came up with: (one way from Dosewallips:
To the waterfall on the left: 6 miles
To the first campground = a bit over 6.5 miles
To Dose Forks = a bit over 8 miles.
To Big Timber = a hair under 11 miles
To Diamond Meadows = 13.65 miles with 2850 gain with all the ups and downs – we camped there two nights. (Diamond Meadows Camp is beyond where it shows it is on Gaia by close to ½ mile. There are two parts to this camp – just hike a bit further for the second part of it. Footlog crossing of river 1/2 mile or so after this was a bit scary for me as the log is narrow over the river part; then gets wider.
To Honeymoon Meadows – close to 16 miles and 800 more gain from DM. You have to ford the river here. It's easy now, but bring sandals or your boots will get soaked.
To LaCrosse Camp about 16.5
To Siberia about 17.5
To Anderson Pass around 18.25
To Anderson Moraine about 19 and around 5400 gain with all the ups and downs of the trail
(from Diamond Meadows camp it was another 2500 gain and 10 roundtrip, but we wandered around Camp Siberia etc which added a bit)
Trail is in great shape as it is obvious a trail crew was there recently. The trail up to the Moraine has its moments of not being the greatest, but it is far from the worst.
You cannot beat the views up there! Currently, the wildflowers at the moraine are incredible – especially with the background of the aqua blue water.
We saw only 7 people in 48 hours once we passed Dose Forks Camp.
My husband thought bikes wouldn't be that helpful as you have to push them up steep sections, carry them over the washouts, but I can tell you that I believe on the way out, they would have saved us a lot of time. There's a nice bike rack at the first campground. Bear boxes at first campground; bear wires after that. Every camping area had a potty.

Howdy! Thank you so much for your trip report. I am headed to the area for 8 days for the Olympic Marmot Survey.
Do you happen to recall if Honeymoon Meadows has a functional bear wire?

Yes, it has two wires right in the middle of camp. We only saw one camper there on Friday night as we were heading back to our camp at Diamond Meadows. There are also two toilets from what we could see.

Hi Kari! I just read your bio and it was so funny to see your name pop up. My partner and I just became members of NCCC and we're both reading Wilderness Alps.
Your dad was amazing and it's great to see his legacy carried on through you.

Thank you for your kind words. My dad always said, "Try to leave the world a bit better place than how you found it." He did a lot to save wild places.
