A beach and forest hike together and a nice one for a hot day. There is good beach access at both ends of the preserve and lots of driftwood lunch logs. First, the directions on the website need to be updated and I don't have access anymore, the gravel road going straight at the turn on Moe Rd is closed off and there is a new parking lot. So: just before Sunrise Rd makes the left turn and becomes Moe, there is a sign on the right hand side for Barnum Point Preserve. Turn here and follow a short gravel driveway to parking. If you turn on Moe you have gone too far. The map can be downloaded from the website mentioned in the writeup, but there have been some more trails added, check with the map at the TH kiosk. We really didn't care about mileage today, just wanted a walk before heat. We chose the pond first, then just explored the trails thru the woods, finally making it down to the Bluff trail and then to the beach for lunch. Our fellow hikers were a mama deer and her fawn on the Bluff trail! The old 1900 era orchard planted by the Barnum family is still there and there is lots of fruit on those old trees! Loo at TH Ok today, but may be iffy if it doesn't get some attention.
