******Found a gold-colored ring on the new trail this morning. If it’s yours, please describe the letter/pattern, and stone colors, and I’ll arrange to return it to you*****
We arrived at the trailhead around 7 a.m. and were the 7th car in the lower parking lot. The gate to the upper lot was locked.
We decided to hike the loop, going up the old trail and coming down the new one.
Old Trail:
The trail was in good shape. Despite the number of cars in the lot, we didn’t see anyone until we reached the boulder field, and we had the entire summit to ourselves. It was a bit hazy, but we still caught views of Rainier, Baker, and Glacier. It was a little buggy at the top, so we had a quick snack before heading down.
New Trail:
There were a few blowdowns across the trail, but they were easy to navigate around. There were plenty of salmonberries and thimbleberries along the trail, they were delicious snacks on the way back to the car.
Overall, it was a great day out in the mountains!
