Talapus and Olallie Lakes — Thursday, Jul. 10, 2025

Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass
Talapus Creek

We made a plan to get on the trail early, due to an afternoon appointment.  There were two other cars in the parking lot.  The trail starts out wide and smooth, and wanders in a beautiful forest and eventually along the Talapus creek. It's a mellow grade to Talapus Lake which is about halfway to Olallie (more or less) and it is a little steeper to Olallie Lake but still enough switchbacks for a straightforward uphill hike.  We saw many more people as we descended back to the trailhead, and lots of cars in the lot.  We were happy about having an early start, it was such a quiet hike for us.

The only road obstacle is where the paved road transitions to gravel not long after getting on FR 9030.  It is a HUGE hole.  I suggest someone bring a can of bright paint to spray along the road edge or an orange cone.  it is impossible to see it before hitting that spot.
