First time to Frog Mountain, trail is close to Index. Arrived around 9 am to only 3 or 4 other cars in lot. As mentioned in previous reports, when you get to the 5 way intersection take the first road on the left. There is a small sign posted to Frog Mountain.
Open air toilet available just up the trail to the left. Wildflowers and ferns lined the path. We saw bunches of bunchberry flowers, queen’s cup, tiger lilies, spirea, arnica and more. Looks like there will be some tasty huckleberries later this summer. We heard grouse and saw a hawk. Bugs (small mosquitoes) were a bit of an annoyance but not too bad. To balance out the bug equation, many beautiful butterflies at the top. The mountains were out, including Mount Index, Glacier Peak, Rainier and the Stuart Range (I think).
It was warm and dusty today.
Fun hike!
