Loganberry Lane at Kasch Park — Sunday, Jul. 6, 2025

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area

Walked the recently updated trails at Loganberry Lane at Kasch park Sunday morning in the sunshine.  Parking is free and plentiful in the main lots on the east side of the park.  Full restrooms were open and in good condition next to the children's play area.  Note, the actual start of the trail is tucked in behind the picnic structure next to the restrooms so it’s a bit easy to miss.  Also note, the trail map at the park shows north as left, not up, which threw me for a bit of a loop.

Bad news -

  1. Many of the new trail signs/structures have already been significantly tagged/vandalized.
  2. Of the folks we encountered, nearly all had dogs and every single one was off leash with several being aggressive and uncontrollable by their humans
  3. The large parking lots had attracted larger groups of youths with vehicles, some completely great, others clearly involved in some less than legal activity.

Good news -

  1.  You can really see all the work put into the updated tread and drainage plus the awesome big new elevated walkway.  Super kudos, (love a good drainage!)
  2. The area has some really nice summer bird song right now
  3. There are a couple nice wetland areas that are largely viewable from the trail.
  4. Good restrooms right near the trailhead.

So... over all a bit of a mixed bag.  But all that said, it is super nice to see the investment and effort put into the local community.  Just crossing my fingers maybe with increased usage by locals some of the current negative aspects will lessen.

Glad you enjoyed that new trail! A lot of volunteer hours went into that trail and a lot of it was hard work. it is discouraging to hear about the vandalism taking place, it seems that the work is not appreciated by those that are using the trail.
