Crystal Lakes to sourdough gap
9.1 Miles R/T

We started at 7:33 heading through the beautiful forest trees . It was a steady but very manageable incline . As we climbed I got very hot and ended up changing into shorts that was a very wise choice.
As we got closer to the lake we could see wildflowers blooming . The bugs were basically non existent at this point.
As the Trees started to disappear and we were now hiking in open and directly under the sun it got hot quickly. The closer we got to the lake the bugs became persistent little ***** .
For whatever reason they love my blood especially horse flies. At upper crystal lakes we took a small break in honor of Francine (Lady Turtle) I took off my boots and soaked them in the cold lake . That was wonderful. It was definitely warm out .
Around 10:20 we headed up to sourdough Gap. We didn’t think we would get all the way up sourdough gap due to snow but we were pleasantly surprised when we did. It was so gorgeous out. This was my first time getting up there and it’s was so worth the extra elevation and miles. The bugs here weren’t bad until they pesky little buggers came looking for me . I didn’t let them ruin my hike though.
Such an amazing day ! We got back to trail head around 3 pm .
