What was intended as a one nighter because a long day hike when we reached Spectacle and realized we had forgotten our poles. Oh well! The trail to Pete Lake is wide and relatively flat - we clocked just over 4 miles. Lots of places to enjoy lunch and a swim at Pete before pushing on. About a mile after Pete is the Lemah Creek crossing. While others have commented on its high flow, we found it posed no problem to ford, other than the cold temperature! Having water shoes (I wore crocs) and poles were helpful. Water came up to my knees (5’6) but it was not too forceful. After the creek crossing, there are several downed trees to cross but nothing too cumbersome. The meadows are bursting right now, making the trail feel a tad overgrown, but I imagine that will die down soon. Some mud/water on trail on the final approach / switchbacks to the Spectacle Lake connector trail. We clicked an additional 6.5 miles to Spectacle, which is cold but snow free. All in all, a lovely early season hike!
