Visited upper Lena for a couple nights; great time! Lake is breaking up but still pretty icy. There were a couple small snowfields that are likely gone by the time you read this. There was some water on the trail, one large re-routed blowdown that was easy to negotiate. The crossing at Lena creek was no biggie. Most of the lakeshore trail is snow free and campsites on the west side of the lake are melting out fast. Sites 4,5,6 should be fully melted out; we stayed at 6 and it was snow free. Past the log crossing, there is snow all the way to milk lake; fun little jaunt but remember to stay to the left of Lena creek as you head up. For this who don’t know the trail around the lake that goes north is accessed right before you hit the first latrine (it’s a composter). You’ll see a wooden stake in the ground, just turn right there for the trail, stay left for the crapper:) hope this helps!
