Pretty easy hike. Took me about an hour from the trail head to get to Talapus lake. Got there around 10:30 and the parking lot was full. Minimal bugs, but I might be biased since I was covered head to toe (including clothes) in bug repellent! Was cold (low 50s) with no rain. Lake was picturesque as you can see! Trail was very well maintained. The drive up is doable in any car really but drive slow to avoid potholes. I saw some wonderful purple wildflowers on the drive up! None that I could see on the actual trail. Easy hike for beginners. Enjoy!
