The trail is in wonderful condition for late spring. There are a few spots that are overgrown, but easy to navigate through and the trail is easy to follow. I counted 4 down trees on the trail, but all were easy to either step over or duck under and none required leaving the trail. There are some spots which are still holding mud, but once again, they are easy to navigate. I did not see snow until the last .5 miles to the lake and it was simple to walk through or avoid.
The wildflowers are blooming and the creeks are running - it was a beautiful day out on the trail.
If you are hiking with dogs on a hot day, you may want to bring some water for the start. It is a steep hot climb until the first creek, which is about 2 miles in.
