Trip Report

High Steel Bridge — Friday, Jun. 13, 2025

High Steel Bridge is not a hike, but it offers quite spectacular views of the gorge and south fork Skokomish river.

Here is the wikipedia article about the bridge itself.

The bridge is in Mason county, beautiful country road drive. The last leg of the drive is on national forest service road 2340. (do note the last stretch of 2 miles is pretty much gravel road and can get bumpy). You will need to park on the side of the road (pretty safe). You can walk up and down the bridge.

While the views of the gorge are spectacular, I did feel a bit nauseated looking down. The hiking trail down to the canyon are shut down. It is not safe (and there are warning signs posted to thwart any overly-adventurous individuals).

pretty good philosophy
