Great day hike. Steady uphill climb, but not steep. Had lunch down by the suspension bridge -- take the trail headed downstream before you cross the bridge for a nice spot by the river. Got chomped once by a biting fly on the return trip, but that was the only insect related incident. Deer plentiful -- came across two just past the trailhead and almost got into a head-on with a threesome running full throttle down the trail toward us. They slammed on the brakes and trotted off into the brush. Pretty windy in the gorge, so the walk across the suspension bridge was a bit wobbly.
Be aware that there is roadwork being done as you exit Highway 20, but the sign states only at night, so shouldn't be a problem unless you're REALLY early (7PM to 5AM).
