I've avoided doing this hike for many years, knowing how popular it is. I finally hiked it, and I am glad that I did.
I hit the trailhead just after sunrise, with 2 other cars in the parking lot. The occupants of the 2 cars passed me coming down. Other than that, it was solitude the entire hike up. At the ledge, one other man was there, but he departed while I was admiring the view. I had about 15 minutes at the ledge before another hiker appeared. I went up to Middle Ledge, but didn't climb out much, as I am not a fan of heights. I did not see the upper ledge.
On the way down, I would estimate that over 150 people passed me heading up, along with about 24 dogs. I'm thankful for sunrise starts.
