We went total 3 to area for one night stay..trail starts elevation gain then drops..up..several snow area but not hard to pass in 1st mile..after 1st mile starts hard pass area on snow..many potholes waiting you if day was soft before night..than creek pass comes..go left about 25 yards down..one short pass wood on...we did about 30lbs backpacks..1 person passed 1st than we gave bags one by one and we did..after that snow covered area with potholes..than different creek easy pass..and several hard pass snow areas..trail comes side of Lower Twin lake..and that means difficulties starting..do not try until lake on if still snow..about 100-200 yards from lake we hit up to left and about 150 yard up..came some no snow but most snow are and hike till see the lake but you can not down next to lake..we were were and cold..and found dry spots unde big trees and camp there..high afford but worted..we didn't use microspike..because not exactly ice..can use snowshoes at some area but mostly ot easy too..bring double poles..waterproof gore tex boots you need..and gaiters..good navigation skill..but think all risk before you try go lake..dangerous till snow gone..
