I hiked the Rattlesnake Mountain Trail to Stan's Overlook and back while my husband rode his mountain bike on the Raging River trail system. Despite the area being shared by both hikers and bikers, the Rattlesnake Mountain Trail is closed to bikes making it a peaceful walk.
From the bathrooms in the parking lot to Stan's Overlook and back, I clocked 4.29 miles and 1089 feet of elevation gain. Note that all this elevation is in one direction. It's a steady climb the whole way.
Trees are starting to leaf out and I spotted some trillium along the trail. The salmon berry shrubs are also starting to bloom. The whole hike is very peaceful, especially the sounds of the creek when you're near it. There are a couple spots where the trail is muddy, but all easy to navigate.
A good reminder to bring layers, too. I experienced a light rain, hail, and sunshine all within in two hours!
