White River Trail - Auburn — Sunday, Mar. 23, 2025

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area

I parked at Roegner Park. The restrooms here are closed for winter right now but there is a portapotty (out of paper when I went). I headed upstream (east) from there along the paved trail. There is a gravel trail closer to the river for the first stretch, but it had a lot of large puddles (not surprising since it was also actively raining). That path felt nicely packed and not muddy so I suspect they drain quickly. Once you get past the off leash dog park the path is a lot closer to the river, it's very easy to look over and watch the flow and rapids, and the primary sound is the river not traffic. I walked down to the pedestrian bridge (there's also Frisbee golf in that area) where there's another park across the water (Game Farm Park). On a not rainy day there are a lot of benches and some picnic tables right next to the river, spread out, and there's also several places to get down to the water's edge.

One note for accessibility, if you need the path to be absolutely smooth there are some sections where tree roots are working on cracking the path. There were more of those between Roegner and the A Street bridge than going the other way, and most of them were not fully across the path (or were much lower on one side than the other).
