In an afternoon with waves of weather, it was still a nice day to hike here....since the hail and rain were just intermittent with sunshine, too. It is amazing the number of trees that have come down, apparently over the winter, in just the early part of the trail. Crews have cut them all out of the trail. It was a bit wet on the trail today, but not deep mud....mostly surface puddles a few inches deep in places. We went as far as the Lime Kiln. To that point, no trees to climb over, just a few to duck slightly to get under, and I think most of these have been here for at least a few years. Saw a ruffed grouse on the way back. Passages over streams still present. Some seem to be cut from downed trees but most seem fairly stable as long as you take some care.
