There was lots of fresh powder snow on the road walk and on the trail!
The Mountain Loop Highway is in good condition, having been plowed, but with some areas of compact snow and ice. I parked on the MLH at the Deer Creek play area and started with snowshoes on and had them on the whole time.
The road to the trailhead had prior vehicles on it which helped with not plunging down so much. But once off the road and on the trail, I was going down up to 8”. The trail could be followed somewhat but it seemed easier to snowshoe along the side of the trail and not actually on it.
It was a wonderful day to be out with so much new, fluffy snow on the trees and all around!
