First time out this area since the big storm. We didn't have it so bad in the South Sound away from the trees. We arrived at the E Sunset TH and were amazed at the damage. The poor people living at the base of the mountain! At least two residents were displaced. One person was packing belongings into a U-Haul. The back end of the lot was closed off and the trailhead was moved. Small trees were tagged with pink ribbons to protect them and direct traffic.
We headed up to Tradition Plateau, the direct route and had to duck under and skirt around several trees from the start. A few people heading toward the high school looked to be having more trouble in the first 500 feet. There were a couple trees on the way to the top of the hill, but not impassable.
Wetlands had about 20 obstacles which could turn back those not wanting to climb, traverse, or jump down from them. I had read Adventure was a mess, but for the first 1000 feet, it seemed fine. But, then, it was truly an obstacle course. Definitely not good for running. Quite a few scoots under trees and having to adjust for the packs hitting.
Maintained Section Line was decent, with 5 easily stepped-over or through areas. Unmaintained was even better thanks to someone with cutting tools. Not much debris either along this stretch. We got up to RR Grade then over to the WT3 trail, again with no obstacles. I wanted to go back down Section Line to test traction, so we headed back that way. All of that trail was runnable with decent traction and low obscurity, despite the debris on the lower half.
