Trip Report

Mount Zion — Thursday, Nov. 28, 2024

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal
Road near parking lot

Road up to Mt. Zion parking is a series of speed bumps driving over downed trees. Snow is minimal until last 3/4 mile and  6-9" deep in parking area and road climbing last bit to parking lot. Parking lot is not suitable for less than 4 wheel drive higher clearance vehicles at the moment.

Trail starts off with limited snow but quickly becomes fully covered in snow. Many trees have fallen across the trail, some for climbing over, some for going under, a few you might want to around! Snow continued to deepen as we climbed. Probably 4" at the one mile corner, and 6" a half mile later. Trail is still very hikeable but more fun if you are ready for these conditions.

FYI-Pit toilet is locked
