North Cascades > Methow/Sawtooth

With apologies for the very late submission of this report, but I felt this trail was worthy of a positive report. I am a 68 year old visitor from the UK, and found this trail to be a very pleasant diversion on the day. It was a warm September's afternoon, but the pancake flat nature of the trail and the fact that most of it is under tree shade made for most enjoyable conditions. Taking the anti-clockwise option of the 'lollipop', I was able to walk out for approximately 2.5 miles until I reached the barrier preventing further progress due to the sandhill cranes nesting sites, but this fitted the bill for me on the day.

Along the way there are excellent views of the gorgeous surrounding landscapes, and of the lovely Methow River. On the basis of the paucity of reviews of this trail, maybe this trail is not so well used, but I thoroughly enjoyed my walk through the different types of trees and bushes. I would strongly recommend it for those seeking a pleasant easy walk, and it is easily accessible just a few miles west of Winthrop
