Just FYI - it snowed 2-5” along the trail on Friday. On Sunday when we hiked out from our campsite, there was still snow in places, especially 2-3 miles out from the trailhead. Some spots can be icy/slick where the snow has melted and refrozen. Probably spikes aren’t needed, but hiking poles might be helpful. Colors and berries are a little past their prime already.
This trail is beautiful but sooooo crowded on weekends. I must have passed 200-300 people on my way out Sunday morning. I saw so many people trampling in the meadows for photos or to pick blueberries. Please stay on the trails and DO NOT step on the fragile heather meadows. And don’t let your dogs run in them either! The meadows take a long time to grow back.
One more note - if you camp out here, it’s a blue bag zone, so make sure to get a wag bag to pack out your poop.
