Trip Report

South Tiger Mountain Loop — Monday, Sep. 23, 2024

Issaquah Alps > Tiger Mountain
TH next to the school bus sign. Parking along the opposite side of the road.

This is not a populated hike. West tiger is much more popular for it's conditioning opportunities and views. That said if you want to just hit the trail and not encounter a lot of people this is a good option for getting away that is still within an hour drive of Seattle. I would suggest making sure you have a digital trail map such as AllTrails or Gaia. Like the rest of the trails on Tiger, there are various crossing trails and roads. Having a map will allow you to choose other paths when you come to the overgrown trails full of thistle and black berry prickles. The top of S. Tiger Mountain has a lot of ripe  blackberries right now, I wished I had a Tupperware to bring some home.

The trail offers you woods, clear cut and views. I found it fairly enjoyable, a large part to do with the total lack of encountering anyone else.

Parking is on the opposite side of the trailhead on pullouts on the side of the road. The trailhead starts just next to the school bus pick up sign.

We clocked about 8 miles and 1500 elevation gain.
