In the past, I have been the jealous hiker grumbling as "those" bikers whiz past me on the road to the Carbon area trails. No more. I had access to a bike this time and yes, it is worth it and wonderful. Of course, as a non-biker, the ride to Ipsut campground with a 30 pound pack was rough and tough. The bike out, however, was a dream. I am now one of "those" bikers.
Two nights at Ipsut with a day hike to Carbon Glacier. On the way to the glacier, the second log bridge over the Carbon River is thin and scary; I look with awe at the folks who just marched across.
