From the parking lot we hiked along most of the old campsite roads, including the Hobbit trail which ends in a nice bench with a great view of the Sound. Then we hiked the Wilbert trail and the Fern Gully trail up to where it meets the Ridge Loop trail, which we followed back to the parking lot. About the full 3.5 miles advertised. The trails were all excellent. Walking through the afternoon with dappled sun filtering through the trees was enchanting. It was a Sunday in early September, but there were almost no other hikers around. Great way to spend a weekend day with family.
