A crew of 7 participated in a 4-day BCRT on this formerly unmaintained trail which is being brought back to life. A Lost Trails Found Crew had spent a week here earlier in the year and made it to the 2.4 mile mark and we worked to clear approximately the next mile. This is a challenging project that crosses several burn areas with hundreds of trees down and thick underbrush to tackle. We all got to hone our cross-cut saw skills on this one and there is still plenty to do to make it to the junction with The North Fork Sullivan Ck Trail about 0.9 miles further. We removed over 300 trees from across the trail in the section that we worked on.
Our camp was at an established site at the wilderness boundary next to Uncas Gulch which was also our water source. This is a lovely spot just prior to the 3-mile mark and is a worthy destination itself.
The "Not Maintained" sign is no longer at the trailhead but the location is accurate on maps and described in the previous report. When finished, this will be a direct route to the northern end of Crowell Ridge and Gypsy Peak, especially after the Aug 15 yearly closure of the road leading to Bear Pasture Trailhead.
The FS link below notes that the road is closed between April 1 and July 1 so check the status prior to hiking this trail if it is within that time frame.

Outstanding! This is a big deal for that area.

The clearing of the rest of the trail has been put on hold by The Forest Service so beware that there is still about 1 mile of downfall and brush to get to The North Fork Sullivan junction.
