Mellow Sunday morning hike. Passed a total of 5 people. We parked at the trailhead sign “CCC #1264” along with a few other cars (space for 6-7 cars). If you follow the WTA directions to the Middlefork Trailhead parking area, that appears to be quite a ways from the trailhead (google maps says 6 min drive or 15 min bike ride). Maybe that’s why it’s an uncrowded trail! Based on the trail description, I was definitely in the right trail.
This is a great late summer walk, when the water crossings are trivial (dry feet!). The trail is mostly shade or dappled shade. Wear long pants as the plants are growing over the trail (though it is still easy to follow and walk). A couple of nice new foot bridges along the way.

Question... When we hiked this we started at the opposite end of the trail adjacent to the Middle Fork Campground area, huge parking lot there. We followed the trail as described 6.8 miles until it came to the MF road. This is just up from where you STARTED. Both trails are listed as 1264 yet they seem to not be connected.Did your trail take you to the road where WE started, up by the campground? MJB
