Kettles Trail System — Friday, Aug. 30, 2024

Puget Sound and Islands > Whidbey Island

Amazing trails, beautiful views, wild Rhody everywhere (not currently in bloom).   Started at the parking lot near Pondilla Lake, visited the beach for a few minutes. The mountains were out all day, no hazy sky!!!  Took the trail from the beach to the PNT.  Parts of the trail give a lovely view of the lake.  Entered Kyle’s Kettle and got on Grandpa Tree Trail, which was fantastic.  Brave Heart, Hoot In, Campground to Kettles Trail were all well kept trails. Left the state park and walked on Escape, Alder Grove, Humpty Dump, and then back on Kettles Trail to enter the state park.  From Kettles, took Cedar to Cedar Grove Loop.  This trail was the highlight of the day.  Beautiful cedars everywhere and wonderful viewpoints sprinkled about the trail.  Hopped on Cedar Hollow then took the Bluff Trail back to the car.  All in all, a lovely hike, beautiful views, and well maintained trails. Hiked about 8.5 miles and phone mentioned 100 floors. Can’t wait to go back!
