Thorp Mountain Lookout via Thorp Creek — Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024

Snoqualmie Region > Salmon La Sac/Teanaway
Zooming in on fire to the north

This was a day of clouds or rain around the Cascades. The Thorpe lookout was in a pocket with regional views, at least -- Rainier was lost in the clouds, mountains in other directions lost or obscured. Nice views of Thorpe and Kachess Lakes. The Thorpe Creek Trail is a pleasant easy hike, a bit of regional viewing on the way. The parking temp was 75 degrees, at the lookout chill and wind discouraged a long stay. Only a few cars parked along the road at the TH. Somewhere road signs had announced fire danger, and sure enough we saw a fire to the north, with a helicopter visiting (water dump???) a couple times. There were small delicious berries along the trail, and still a few flower patches.
