Trip Report

Goat Lake — Friday, Jul. 26, 2024

North Cascades > Mountain Loop Highway

Went for a two-night backpack with a group of five. After getting a flat tire on the way up (from a sharp rock we think!), arrived at about 10am to the last spot in the parking lot. Thanks to the previous reports, we made sure to leave our car empty.

Lovely walkable trail (lower elliot) with a few blowdowns that weren't too difficult to navigate. Reports were accurate - quite buggy in the middle section especially.

Arrived Friday afternoon to a completely empty campsite. People filtered in until late that night and all day Saturday. Saturday night campsite was very full. Even though it was full around the lake, it rarely felt crowded.

The side quest to the waterfall on Saturday was fun, although heads up it's a difficult bushwack-y type trail with some challenging sections. (see photo)

We were the last to leave the campsite on Sunday 10am. Returned to a car with all its windows, no other evidence of window breakage that we saw.
