Beautiful hike to Comet Falls and Van Trump Park! The weather was lovely and the trail wasn't overly crowded, although the parking lot was full at 7am. We saw several pikas in the rocks along the trail on the way to Comet Falls. The wildflowers are absolutely stunning all around the falls, and we hung out in the area for the sun to come up enough for us to get a rainbow at the falls (around 9am). There were also a ton of ripe salmonberries and a handful of ripe huckleberries on the trail up to Comet Falls :)
The trail is definitely quieter after the falls--most folks turn around there, but continuing on to Van Trump Park is worth it. We saw a marmot hanging out on a rock along the switchbacks. The park is still full of flowers, but some of the early flowers (like avalanche lilies) are already one. The very end of the maintained trail is kind of steep and slippery, so poles are nice if you're so inclined.
