The trailhead is off of hwy 123 just outside MRNP so no timed entry pass needed. The trail starts uphill immediately and continues up for 3400 feet over 9 miles. It ended up being a cloudy/foggy day but cleared enough for us to sneak in some spectacular views of Rainier and the Tatoosh range. Ideally, wait for a clear fall day when the fall colors are reported to be amazing. We are 60 something and 70 something 😆 and it took 6 hours to complete.
