This is a great little hike if you are looking for a good workout. The grade is relentless. Strava tells me I climbed 2,400 feet in 4 miles - and it feels like it. Don't be disappointed that you follow a forest road all the way to the top - it actually makes the hiking easier. On the hike back down I took a few more pictures because I could enjoy it more. Going up is a grind. The last mile up seemed like the hardest, but that is only because you are tired after the first three. Looking at Strava, the grade is fairly consistent over the entire 4 miles to the top.
You can chop a mile off both ways if you want by driving to the upper parking lot. I stopped at the one with the pit toilet, only to find a mile later that other cars had driven up the road to the closed gate.
There is another toilet at the top - and lots of horseflies. Not sure if the two are connected, I didn't venture into the potty on the peak.
