We got late start but were happy find there was only one other car at the hairpin trailhead for lower Cold Creek Trail. The trail to Twin Lakes was a tiny bit brushy but the trail from the lake up to the PCT was very brushy. The big mystery of the day was that there were clearly recent clippings in the trail as if someone had given a VERY half-hearted effort with a pair of loppers. We skipped the hike down to Mirror Lake and instead headed off north on the PCT which was a pleasant upgrade from the Cold Creek Trail. At Windy Pass we followed the road for a quarter to half mile and easily found the trail back to Twin Lakes. This trail was also very brushy and the mysterious clippings in the trail showed up again. Overall, a great hike if you don't mind it being overgrown.
