Trip Report

Little Mountain Park - Bonnie and Clyde Loop — Friday, Jun. 21, 2024

Puget Sound and Islands > Bellingham Area

When my son told me he wanted to go on a hike with me, something we haven't done in far too long (I see now that my profile pic has him as a young kiddo - maybe I should change that!), I  got so excited I couldn't decide where we should go! I have so many favorites! North to Heather-Maple Pass Loop? South to Eagle Peak Saddle? East to Bandera Mt. with a bonus dip in Mason Lake? West to Dear Park to Maiden Peak?? Agonizing!! In the end, I chose somewhere new! Somewhere less intense and shorter :) When I came across Little Mt, I thought How Cute! This will be a perfect little jaunt. . and it was ; )   We parked at the East Trail head, off of Little Mountain Rd, not the main, big lot on Little Mountain Park Rd. There was room for maybe 3 cars? We were number 2, at 11 AM, so, no problem! We took Nature Trail to Cairn to La-Z-Boy to Bonnie & Clyde's to Sidewinder (Southern one) to the viewpoints-South and then North. We headed back down the way we came, with only 1 change - using Ginny's  vs Sidewinder. We were back at the car by 1:30. That included some photo stops, in particular, the car on Bonnie & Clyde's. Loved that :) Honestly, I have no idea how long it was as I didn't run any apps - I just wanted to enjoy the day and have engaging and meaningful conversation with my 21 year old son :) There are so many options on this "Little Mountain", the choose-your-own-adventure possibilities are endless. I hope you get out there and make one of your own. . and have great company and conversation as well. . .Also, I can highly recommend heading to La Conner afterward and enjoying a Harvest Quesadilla and Strawberry Rhubarb Cider (or burger and root beer!) at the La Conner Brewery and browsing Snow Goose Produce on the way back home. If only 5 South wasn't so. . . 5 South :( Blech
