North Cascades > Mountain Loop Highway
Descending Headlee Pass

I started at 6am and took my sweet time making my way to the summit. The snowfields were good for kicksteps around 9:00am. By 11am, I was postholing up to my waist coming down the snowfields. Lots of small wet avalanches on surrounding peaks. Someone above me set off a small avalanche from glissading. Nothing too concerning, but they didn't announce it and I heard it coming from behind.

On the descent of Headlee the snow was incredibly soft and more melted out than when I started. I postholed quite a bit down to the boulders underneath. Snow isn't too deep so it didn't pose any issues--more of a nuisance.

Lots of water sources along the way! With warmer weather it's best to start as early as possible.

This is the creek crossing that has been up for debate

Beautiful views!

Kasi on Vesper Peak

That was me triggering the small slide.
When it happened it was clear to me that it would stop at the plateau above you but you're right, I should have yelled out anyway. Sorry about that. :/
