We accessed the trail from the lot (vs Chuckanut), arriving around 2:30 pm. There were a lot of cars parked on the road leading up to the lot, but at that time of day the morning hikers were leaving and we were able to park in the paved lot right at the trailheads. We just missed hang gliders launching by the lot, but saw them later gliding over the Sound. Bonus! We passed several groups of hikers by wouldn’t call it crowded. The walk through the forest is beautiful with a steady but not difficult incline. Several small groups were hanging out at the top, some settling in for the sunset. Lovely hike with great view of the San Juan Islands, nearby oyster beds, and Anacortes in the distance (industry and all).
