I had set my sights on the Kachess Ridge Loop, counter-clockwise starting with Para Point and the side trek to Baldy, then north to the French Peaks, and back south with a possible side trek to Kachess Beacon before descending back to the parking lot. Alas, while there were only about a dozen very minor snow patches to navigate between Para Point and Mount Baldy, everything north of Para Point from there to Thomas Mountain was snow 12-18" deep, which made for very slow going. Turning around at Thomas was the right call, but it isn't worth it to go anywhere north of Para Point. Baldy was a reward in itself, though, even if I didn't get to do the entire 16-mile loop. Another day!
