Hiked this trail ahead of memorial day weekend and we had the trail to ourselves, which is great solitude on a busy little island. It was a great choice for a really overcast day. It's a forested loop with only a few switchbacks on one side so it's a good choice for a flatter, gentler adventure.
We stayed at at Mountain Lake campground which made this trail super easy to access (plus Mt. Constitution and others). We stayed at the campground with our pup, and a park ranger gave him a "bark ranger" bandana for being on leash and following state park rules. If you hike or camp here with your dog, you too may be rewarded for good behavior!
