Trip Report

Florence Peak — Monday, May. 27, 2024

Mount Rainier Area > NW - Carbon River/Mowich

The trail is a comfortable, steady increase in elevation the entire time. I encourage you to go across the waterfall, versus continuing to erode the side trail which is slick with wet rocks and roots. If you plan your foot placement well, you may only need to sacrifice one foot to getting a touch wet.

If you want solitude, this is the hike for you. If you want views, you're going to work for them, and if they appear (I got socked in unfortunately), it will only be at the very last push to the summit. The entire hike is in the woods, including the ridge portion. The scramble from the first rock outcrop to the true summit was fun. The register needs a new cap.

Ticks are out, probably picked that guy up in the meadow portion of the hike near the summit.
