Trail is beautiful and snow covered. Given how flat it was and the good condition of the snow, we felt comfortable with hiking boots. Others we passed used a variety of shoes, crampons, snowshoes, skis.
Roads are open and clean up to Paradise (as of 5/8 it was closed right after the paradise parking lot). Restrooms at the paradise visitor center are also open. You can check the latest weather and road conditions at https://www.nps.gov/mora/planyourvisit/weather.htm
