Lake Whatcom Park - Chanterelle Trail — Friday, Apr. 12, 2024

Great trail in good condition Whatcom County Parks has many well-maintained trails with an extensive trail system. We saw only a few hikers, several small groups of firefighters hiking with gear for training. RT trip is 4.8 miles to the Overlook and back, with a bit over 1,000' of EG. The views at the Overlook is gorgeous which opens up after hiking through heavy forested shade. The trail continues for about another mile off the Overlook but we didn't do that section. We looped back via the Wickersham Road, then cut back over to the trail after crossing the road. We saw trillium but no wildlife. The parking lot is decent, restrooms were open. Also mountain biking trails throughout the area.
