A great kid friendly hike on a school free friday. We got to the parking lot around 9:30am and there were only a couple other cars in the lot. The road to the parking lot out of North Bend is paved and in good condition. There is no cell service along the trail. The trail was nearly mud free, easy to do in regular athletic shoes (as long as you're mindful of the standard rocks and tree roots) with lots of woodland spring flowers and greenery. There are two downed trees across the trail which make for a fun scramble. We did two miles out and then returned. Views across the river to Garfield Peak were gorgeous. Definitely an easy forest meander for us at 4 miles total with about 600 ft elevation gain.
