Decided that Easton Ridge would have manageable amounts of snow at the ridgeline on what turned out to be a warm and sunny day. We encountered numerous downed trees across the trail, which required some short re-routes or various crabwalk techniques. Plan on some extra time. Much to our surprise the snow was almost completely gone. Only a few patches remained near the top. These will be gone soon. Instead, we were greeted with a profusion of wildflowers - spring beauty, arnica, red currant, balsam root, lady slipper orchids, trillium, star flower, among many others. It was an impressive display. Our leisurely pace took about 2 1/4 hours to reach the summit. One member of our party reported finding a wood tick on his clothes upon his return home. Also, evidence of car break-in at the trail head. Do not leave valuables in your car.
