Trip Report

Rattlesnake Trail — Saturday, May. 21, 2022

Eastern Washington > Palouse and Blue Mountains
Alnus Spring at 5,200 feet elevation, 3+ miles.

Trail is occasionally faint but not hard to follow due to topography. Brush encroaches on the trail in only a few areas: 2% of the 3+ mile distance to Alnus Spring. Trail starts with crossing of Panjab Creek on downed log, presenting the only notable obstacle. Larger patches of snow and blooming wildflowers at 5,200 elevation. Trail is snowfree. Observed six elk near Alnus Spring. Saw one other party of two. Ticks are an issue: two of us removed 25 of them during and immediately after the hike.
