Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area

Wanted a quick hike to restore my spirits for the long weekend, and this one fit the bill quite nicely. I've done the Rattlesnake Ledge hike that trails up the mountain to the overlooking ledge before, so it was near to walk around the area below and see it from the ground this time.

The trail is either paved or graveled, with little to no elevation gain, so it's nice and easy for beginners, kids, or (like me) recovering from injuries and getting back into practice. The lake is peaceful, and there were families of geese and lots of birds in the area.

I have to say I recommend doing this trail on a rainy day, as the Watershed education center nearby has a setup with drums and pipes that pour rainwater over them to create this hall of percussion. I happened to have forgotten my headphones and so was music free, but I'm glad I was because standing there listening to the water drums was wonderful.

This is a good one for kids, for non-hikers that you want to show the PNW hiking vibes to without destroying their legs, or for groups with pets. Just make sure the little ones and furry friends don't start fights with the geese. :)
