A WTA Back Country Response Team (BCRT) spent four days clearing downed trees from the trail. Over 40 logs were cut between mile one and 3.5, resulting in a significantly easier passage over most of the trail.
There are still two large trees requiring a crouch to get under, and a few sections of tread with exposed bedrock that need caution, but overall (up to mile 3.5), the trail is now in great shape.
Lovely views abound - the river, waterfalls and cascades, mature trees, and prospects of distant peaks.
The access road is in very poor condition. While there were a few sedans at the trailhead, a high clearance vehicle is recommended to deal with numerous deep potholes.
